Teacher Training Courses
TEACHER TRAINING AT INTERNATIONAL HOUSE ROME
Every year International House prepares more candidates worldwide than any other organisation for Cambridge ESOL Certificate (CELTA) and Diploma (DELTA) in English Language Teaching to Adults and the Young Learner Extension Certificate (CELTYL Extension).
IH helped to create the modern standards for teacher training in language education, and continues to innovate in preparing and developing teachers of all languages.
International House developed the first training courses for teachers of English and has continued to innovate both in pre‐service training and teacher development. Globally, the language teachers that we train are acknowledged as amongst the most able, creative and authoritative within their profession. Our teacher training programmes are a hallmark of excellence and outstanding professionalism.
IH Teacher Training Centres have a special commitment to working with teachers whose first language is not English, creating career opportunities for teachers from different backgrounds and working to improve the quality of language teaching provision in the state system.
The Teacher Training Department at Accademia Britannica – International House in Rome started more than thirty years ago to cater mainly to the needs of the local International House Schools. It expanded, however, to become the largest in Italy, in response to the growing demand for training courses in both State schools and private institutions. In 1997 the Department was one of the first in the world authorised by University of Cambridge ESOL to pilot their new Extension Course for Teachers of Young Learners.
Location and facilities
Accademia Britannica – international House is situated in a 19th century building which is centrally located and close to the Colosseum, San Giovanni in Laterano and the main railway station (Stazione Termini).
